Andrea Bates graduated in May of 2017 from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC with a Masters of Divinity Degree. She joined Our Saviour’s as pastor in July of 2017 and was ordained and installed in August of 2017.
Andrea is especially excited to serve at Our Saviour’s Lutheran because the congregation is both welcoming and excited to serve God’s children in the area. She is eager to find out what all God might be calling Our Saviour’s to be and to do in Welcome, North Carolina!
Andrea is originally from a small town in south-central Nebraska. Her father is a pastor and her mother is a deacon in the ELCA – so the church has always been home for her. She loves spending time playing games, watching football and touring breweries with her husband, Kyle, who is also a pastor in the ELCA.
Laverne Hibbett, Music Director

Laverne (Hales) Hibbett has been the church musician at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church for 34 years. She graduated from North Davidson Senior High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Salem College and a Master of Arts degree in Industrial / Organizational Psychology from Appalachian State University. She is currently the Global Learning and Development Manager for ConvaTec, a medical device manufacturer.
Laverne attends Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church because the members are like family to her. By example, they have taught her love, faith, resilience, forgiveness and grace.
She enjoys music, spending time with family and friends, reading and traveling almost anywhere (this photo was taken in Ireland).
